MetalX, LLC acquired the assets of Metal Shred Industries, LLC, a Kendallville, Indiana-based scrap aluminum toll processor. The acquisition adds an aluminum shredding and separation facility to MetalX's existing network of scrap processing operations, expanding its nonferrous processing capabilities and footprint in Indiana.

BDC Capital provided $6 million in mezzanine financing to support the transaction; Alpine's president George Doerr will remain with the company.

Sims Metal Acquires Baltimore Scrap Corp

Sims Metal, the metal recycling business of Sims Limited, has agreed to acquire the assets of Baltimore Scrap Corp and its affiliates for US$177 million plus working capital and other adjustments. The deal adds 17 facilities (including four shredders) across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and ~600,000 tonnes per year of scrap volume, strengthening Sims' North American footprint; the transaction is expected to close in October 2023 subject to customary approvals.
