Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm, has acquired Handgards, Inc., an El Paso, Texas-based manufacturer and supplier of disposable foodservice safety and hygiene products. Wind Point will partner with Handgards management, appointing Joe Kubicek as CEO, and plans to invest in organic growth and expand the company's manufacturing footprint through additional investments and acquisitions.

Handgards Acquires Albany Packaging USA

Handgards, a portfolio company of Wynnchurch Capital, acquired Albany Packaging USA, a Deerfield Beach-based distributor of paper-based foodservice packaging. The deal expands Handgards' paper-based packaging capabilities and brings Albany's folding carton product line and customer relationships into the Handgards platform.

The add-on strengthens Handgards' converting and sourcing capabilities and expands its offering into grocery, convenience and hospitality end markets; terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition is an add-on to the Handgards platform to broaden its foodservice product portfolio across North America; Fineline's founder Abraham Feig will continue to lead the business.

Gryphon-backed Shermco Industries Acquires Electrical Manufacturing and Distributors (EMD)

Shermco Industries, majority-owned by Gryphon Investors, has acquired Electrical Manufacturing and Distributors, Inc. (EMD), a Wichita Falls-based provider of process controls, systems integration, electrical engineering and control panel fabrication. The acquisition expands Shermco's service capabilities in process controls and strengthens its presence in midstream oil & gas and industrial end markets; EMD's management will remain with the company.
