Company of Merchants Acquires C&D Scrap Metal, H-Town Scrap Metal and Fort Bend Recycling

Company of Merchants has acquired three Houston-area metal recycling businesses — C&D Scrap Metal, H-Town Scrap Metal, and Fort Bend Recycling — and will consolidate the operations under the C&D brand. The deal expands Company of Merchants’ network of metal recycling facilities across the Greater Houston market, increasing accessibility for residential, contractor, and commercial/industrial customers and bringing the combined headcount to nearly 100 employees.

Sims Metal Acquires Baltimore Scrap Corp

Sims Metal, the metal recycling business of Sims Limited, has agreed to acquire the assets of Baltimore Scrap Corp and its affiliates for US$177 million plus working capital and other adjustments. The deal adds 17 facilities (including four shredders) across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and ~600,000 tonnes per year of scrap volume, strengthening Sims' North American footprint; the transaction is expected to close in October 2023 subject to customary approvals.

Commercial Metals Company Acquires Assets of Roane Metals Group LLC

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) acquired all assets of metal recycling company Roane Metals Group LLC, which operates two facilities in Tennessee capable of processing approximately 85,000 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous materials annually. The acquisition is intended to enhance the security and supply of competitively priced scrap inputs to CMC's steelmaking operations.

Scrap Management Industries Acquires Allmetal Recycling

Macquarie Asset Management Acquires DTG Recycle

A fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management has completed the acquisition/recapitalization of DTG Recycle from Clairvest and other shareholders. DTG management (CEO Tom Vaughn and Chief Development Officer Dan Guimont) will retain ownership stakes and continue to run the business as MAM supports the company’s next stage of growth and geographic expansion across the Pacific Northwest.
