Brookfield Renewable Acquires Urban Grid for $650M

Brookfield Renewable acquired clean power developer Urban Grid and its pipeline of approximately 20,000 MW (13,000 MW solar and 7,000 MW storage) across 12 U.S. states for $650 million. The deal roughly triples Brookfield Renewable's U.S. development pipeline and Urban Grid will continue to operate under its brand as an independent power producer (IPP).

Scout Clean Energy Acquires Stockton Lake Solar Farm from Azimuth Renewables

Scout Clean Energy has acquired Stockton Lake Solar Farm, LLC from Azimuth Renewables and will lead development, procurement, construction and operation of the planned 112 MWdc project near Eudora in Polk County, Missouri. Azimuth Renewables will remain involved through a development services agreement; Scout expects to invest approximately $120 million and begin commercial operations in 2025.

Redeux Energy sold a utility-scale hybrid solar and battery storage development project (200 MWdc solar, 40 MW/160 MWh storage) located in Ohio County, Kentucky to Scout Clean Energy. Scout, a Boulder-based renewable developer and portfolio company managed by Brookfield Asset Management, will advance the project through later-stage development, financing and construction; Redeux was advised by Marathon Capital.

Brookfield Acquires National Grid Renewables; Rebrands as Geronimo Power

Brookfield Asset Management, together with its institutional partners including Brookfield Renewable Partners, completed the acquisition of National Grid Renewables from National Grid plc and will operate the business under the Geronimo Power brand. The Minneapolis-headquartered company develops and operates utility-scale solar, wind and energy storage (about 2 GW operating, 1 GW under construction and ~20 GW in development) and will continue scaling Brookfield’s U.S. renewables platform.

CleanCapital Acquires BQ Energy

The acquisition brings BQE’s pipeline—more than 300 MW of late-stage and 700+ MW of mid-stage solar projects—into CleanCapital to expand its development and construction capabilities in brownfield renewable energy.

Quinbrook Acquires Strategic Stake in Elemental Clean Fuels

Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has acquired a strategic majority ownership stake in Elemental Clean Fuels (ECF), marking Quinbrook’s first investment in Canada and providing significant capital to advance ECF’s pipeline of renewable fuels projects across British Columbia and Alberta. The majority stake is being acquired from ECF’s founders and lead investor Piney Point Capital, both of which will remain as substantial minority shareholders and board members following the transaction.
