Huron Capital Recapitalizes Sunland Asphalt & Construction

Detroit-based private equity firm Huron Capital has recapitalized Sunland Asphalt & Construction, a Phoenix-based asphalt producer and paving solutions provider, in partnership with the company’s senior management. Founder and CEO Doug DeClusin will remain in place as Huron seeks to build a new infrastructure services platform, grow Sunland’s geographic footprint and pursue acquisitive growth across commercial and government end markets.

Huron Capital's portfolio company Sunland Asphalt has acquired Metro Pavers, Inc., a Denver-area asphalt maintenance and paving contractor founded in 1975. The add-on expands Sunland's presence in Colorado and strengthens its service capabilities across public and private end markets; Honigman LLP and Moss Adams LLP served as legal and financial diligence advisors, respectively.

Heartland Paving Partners, a platform company backed by Soundcore Capital Partners, has acquired Garden State Pavement Solutions, a full-service asphalt and concrete pavement provider serving New Jersey and parts of eastern Pennsylvania. The deal expands Heartland's geographic footprint into New Jersey and will keep Garden State leadership in place while integrating the company into Heartland's buy-and-build strategy.
