Generac Acquires Ageto to Strengthen Microgrid and Energy Storage Solutions

Generac Power Systems acquired Ageto, a Fort Collins–based provider of microgrid controllers and energy optimization software, in a deal that closed August 1, 2024. The acquisition integrates Ageto's microgrid controller and software with Generac's battery energy storage systems and generator offerings to provide site-level system integration and expanded capabilities for commercial and industrial customers.

Headquartered in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Scale operates roughly 250 MW of assets with a ~2.5 GW near-term pipeline; EQT said it will invest to scale commercial processes, software and project execution to accelerate growth in distributed generation and resilience offerings.

Generate Capital has acquired utility-scale battery storage developer esVolta LP, adding a portfolio of more than 900 MWh of operational and contracted projects and a pipeline across multiple U.S. states and Canada. The deal gives Generate entry into the front-of-the-meter battery storage market to expand its grid-connected storage capabilities and accelerate deployment of energy storage projects for utilities and offtakers.
