Caymus Equity Partners’ portfolio company Pan-Am Dental completed the acquisition of Gibson Dental Designs, a full-service dental laboratory. The deal expands Pan-Am’s geographic presence in the Southeast United States, adds a third U.S. location in Gainesville, Georgia, and strengthens the platform with complementary capabilities and a broader product suite.

Specialty Smile Partners announced separate strategic partnerships with four New York-based specialty dental practices: Albany Braces, Where Smiles Grow, Battiste Orthodontics, and Schenectady Pediatric Dentistry. The affiliations expand Specialty Smile Partners’ footprint in New York and provide the practices with management services and operational support. Blue Sea Capital, the private equity sponsor of Specialty Smile Partners, highlighted its support for the expansion.

Benco Dental announced the acquisition of PPO Profits, a dental practice solutions firm focused on fee optimization and revenue cycle management services such as fee negotiations and credentialing. PPO Profits will continue operating as a standalone company serving existing clients, with leadership changes including Anna DuHamel becoming Chief Business Officer. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Abra Health announced the acquisition of two Northern New Jersey oral surgery practices: Bayonne Oral Surgery (Bayonne) and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Institute (Newark). The two practices will operate under the Abra Health umbrella as Garden State Oral Surgery Group while continuing to run under their existing names and locations.

Signet Leadership, LLC and its clinical partner LADD Dental Group, backed by Lead Capital Partners, acquired Elsner Family Dentistry, a dental practice in Westfield, Indiana. The deal expands LADD Dental Group’s footprint in Indiana and adds Elsner Family Dentistry into Signet’s affiliated dental practice network.

Abra Health Group acquired the Eugene McGuire, DDS pediatric dental practice in Allentown, Pennsylvania as part of its strategic expansion in dental and pediatric care services. Following the transaction, the practice will be integrated into Abra Health’s Smiles 4 Keeps brand and is expected to transition to a new Smiles 4 Keeps location in Allentown with expanded offerings including orthodontics and general dentistry.

Espire Dental acquired Anderson Family Dental, a dental practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The deal expands Espire Dental’s presence in southern Colorado and represents its seventh acquisition of 2023.

Incline Equity Partners, a Pittsburgh-based private equity firm, announced an investment in Smile Source, a private practice network serving independent dentists. Smile Source, headquartered in Kingwood, Texas, provides group purchasing and other practice solutions to more than 1,000 private practice dentists across the United States.

P1 Dental Partners, a Prairie Capital portfolio company, acquired Cornerstone Dental Partners, with Caber Hill Advisors advising Cornerstone on the transaction. Cornerstone is a 10-office dental support organization (DSO) in the greater Chicago area, and its owners will assume executive leadership roles at P1. The deal closed in December 2021 and financial terms were not disclosed.

SkyKnight Capital, L.P. announced an investment in Pearl Street Dental Partners, a dental practice management company. Pearl Street’s co-founders, dentist shareholders, management team, and existing investor Talisker Partners will remain significant shareholders as the company enters its next growth phase.

Specialty Smile Partners LLC (SSP), a management services organization for orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, announced it has partnered with All Smiles. The affiliation adds six new All Smiles locations and expands SSP’s presence into Florida, serving the Greater Tampa Bay Area.

Signet Leadership, LLC, backed by Lead Capital Partners, announced the acquisition of Dill Family Dentistry. The practice will join and operate under Ladd Dental Group, Signet’s flagship partner, expanding the platform to its eighth clinic in Indiana. Dill Family Dentistry is located in Logansport, Indiana and is led by Dr. Todd Dill, DDS.

Court Square Capital Partners has made a major strategic capital investment in West Coast Dental’s support organization to accelerate the dental provider’s growth plans. Following the investment, West Coast Dental’s founders will remain investors alongside Court Square, and Dr. Payam Sohrab will continue as CEO & President.

Abra Health announced the acquisition of For All Children and Adult Dentistry, a multi-specialty dental practice in Kearny, New Jersey. The practice will be renamed Abra Dental and expanded to accommodate additional pediatric, adult dentistry, and orthodontic patients.

Espire Dental, a doctor-led Integrated Dental Organization, announced its acquisition of Meadows Dental Group in Lone Tree, Colorado. The deal expands Espire Dental’s footprint to 20 practices and strengthens its presence in the Denver market.

Solmetex, LLC announced it has closed the acquisition of DryShield, Inc., a developer of in-treatment dental patient isolation products. The deal expands Solmetex’s dental water treatment and patient safety management offering and builds on its previously announced acquisition of Sterisil. Financial terms were not disclosed.

SIMKO Specialty Dental and its affiliated practices entered into a strategic partnership with private equity firm Blue Sea Capital to form Specialty Smile Partners LLC, a management services organization supporting orthodontics and pediatric dentistry practices. Blue Sea Capital made a substantial growth investment in Specialty Smile Partners, with SIMKO serving as the foundational group while SIMKO’s doctors and management retain their roles and help lead the new platform.

Frontier Dental Superholdings LLC (FDS) announced it has partnered with and made an investment in Burbank Dental Laboratory, LLC, a full-service dental laboratory headquartered in Burbank, California. The transaction adds Burbank’s dental restoration manufacturing capabilities and customer base to Frontier’s dental laboratory platform, with Burbank’s president Tony Sedler joining Frontier’s board while continuing to lead Burbank.

The Rise Fund, TPG's global impact investing strategy, acquired Blue Cloud Pediatric Surgery Centers, the largest operator of pediatric dental ambulatory surgery centers in the United States. The investment will support Blue Cloud’s expansion to meet growing demand for pediatric dental procedures requiring anesthesia, particularly in lower-income and special needs populations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Gen4 Dental Partners, a dental service organization (DSO) based in Tempe, Arizona, announced the acquisition of Harris Dental, a cosmetic dentistry practice based in Phoenix, Arizona. The partnership will support Harris Dental’s continued growth while maintaining clinical autonomy for its dentists and expanding resources for the practice.

Spark Dental Management, backed by Rock Mountain Capital, acquired Children's Dental Management (CDM) and its 35 dental locations across three states. The transaction also includes CDM’s five AAAHC-accredited dental surgery centers, expanding Spark’s pediatric dentistry and orthodontics support platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dental365 announced the acquisition of Beacon Dental Health, a New England-based dental service organization supporting 14 general dental practices. The deal expands Dental365’s footprint into Massachusetts and Rhode Island and brings the combined organization to more than 90 supported practices and over 1,000 employees.

Access Dental Management LLC, the healthcare platform of Surge Private Equity LLC, acquired Optim Dental and Vogue Dental (together, “Optim Dental”), a multi-site dentistry operator in Illinois. The deal was reported at approximately $10 million and was financed with debt provided by Corbel Capital Partners. The acquisition represents Access Dental’s entry into the Illinois and Indiana markets and is described as its fourth add-on acquisition in 2021.

Spark Orthodontics, an orthodontic group practice backed by a significant minority investment from Rock Mountain Capital, acquired Cumberland Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in Tennessee. Cumberland’s eight Nashville-area offices will continue operating under the Cumberland name and will be integrated under Spark, with Cumberland’s four founders joining Spark’s management team. The deal expands Spark into a multi-specialty pediatric dental and orthodontic practice; financial terms were not disclosed.

Simply Beautiful Smiles acquired Olin Dental Group, a general and pediatric dental practice located in Rahway, New Jersey. The acquisition supports Simply Beautiful Smiles’ strategy to expand its geographic footprint and dental service offerings across the Delaware Valley region.

Halle Capital Management made a growth equity investment in Planet Smile Partners (PSP), a newly formed dental service organization focused on pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Following the investment, PSP will initially partner with Dentistry for Children Westchester, a New York-based group of dental practices, with its founder Dr. Gary Heitzler serving as CEO to scale the platform.

Thurston Group, a Chicago-based private equity firm, acquired Gen4 Dental Partners (Gen4), a dental services organization platform formed from five group practices in Arizona and Utah. Five Points Capital provided unitranche financing and an equity co-investment to support the transaction. Gen4 is positioned as a clinician-centric DSO that reduces administrative burden for dental practices across its 15 locations.

ICV Partners, LLC announced it has made a majority investment in Cherry Tree Dental in partnership with co-CEOs Steve Sorrel and Jack Young. Cherry Tree Dental is a Wisconsin-based dental practice management company and general dentistry provider headquartered in Madison, operating 28 locations across the state.

SmilePartners-USA, a portfolio company of Silver Oak Services Partners, acquired PEDIA, a general dentistry and oral surgery provider operating 14 locations in the Chicago metropolitan area. SmilePartners also acquired additional general and specialty dental practices in the Detroit and Atlanta metro areas, adding three more locations and expanding its footprint to 46 locations across Michigan, Illinois, and Georgia.

O2 Investment Partners has invested in Frontier Dental Laboratories to support the management team led by Brent West and Gil Villavecer. The investment is intended to fund Frontier’s continued expansion, including enhanced product and service capabilities, increased technological leadership, and growth of its global customer base.

Smile Brands Inc., a Gryphon Investors-backed dental support organization, announced a partnership with and acquisition of Gateway Dental in Seattle, Washington. Gateway Dental will continue operating under its existing brand while Smile Brands provides full-service administrative support services.

The Beekman Group completed the sale of Delaware Valley Management Holdings, Inc. (DVM), a dental service organization supporting 20 dental practices in the greater Philadelphia market. Beekman originally partnered with Dr. Louis A. D’Angelo in 2014 to form and grow the platform, which operates under the Simply Beautiful Smiles brand across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Young Innovations, Inc., a dental supplies and equipment manufacturer and distributor, announced the acquisition of The Orthodontic Store, Inc., a full-line provider of orthodontic appliances, supplies, and instruments. The acquisition expands Young Innovations’ specialty-focused distribution portfolio in the orthodontics segment. Young Innovations is a portfolio company of Linden Capital Partners, and The Orthodontic Store CEO Steve Sanders will consult following the transaction.
