Engineering Services Acquisitions in Nevada

RMA Companies, a portfolio company of OceanSound Partners, has acquired Black Eagle Consulting, a Reno- and Carson City–based provider of geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, inspection, and non-destructive examination services. The add-on deal expands RMA's regional footprint and laboratory/non-destructive examination capabilities in Nevada to better serve public agencies, utilities, mining, engineering firms, contractors, and developers.

Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: BWMN) has acquired CFA, Inc., a Reno, Nevada-based civil engineering, surveying, planning and remote sensing firm. The acquisition — financed with cash, seller notes and equity — brings roughly 30 CFA professionals into Bowman and strengthens Bowman's presence in Nevada, with an initial annualized net service billing run rate of about $5 million.

The HFW Companies, an AEC industry professional services consolidator based in St. Louis, has acquired Taney Engineering, a Las Vegas–based civil engineering and land surveying firm. The acquisition brings Taney's civil engineering, flood-control and renewable-energy site expertise into HFW's network of member firms to support growth and cross-collaboration across metropolitan and infrastructure markets.

Canadian design and consulting firm RJC Engineers has acquired Kordt Engineering Group (KEG), a structural engineering firm with offices in Las Vegas and Reno, to expand RJC’s U.S. presence. KEG’s founder Stephan Kordt will become President of U.S. Operations and the combined firms will continue to provide structural, façade, and structural glass engineering services across North America.

NV5 Global, Inc. (NV5) has acquired Intrepid Engineering LLC, a Las Vegas–based provider of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems design, in a cash-and-stock transaction. The acquisition expands NV5's MEP capabilities and client base in the U.S. Southwest, adding expertise and clients in healthcare, education and retail sectors and is expected to be immediately accretive to NV5's earnings.

Godspeed Capital has invested in TSK Architects, which will join the Huckabee Architects platform as an add-on to expand Huckabee's geographic reach into Nevada, Arizona and California and to add Federal, State and Local Government capabilities. TSK's leadership will remain in place and will co-invest; financial terms were not disclosed.

Aperture, a Trinity Hunt Partners portfolio company, announced the acquisition of American Bio Engineers (ABE), a forensic engineering firm specializing in biomechanical and accident reconstruction services. The deal brings ABE's Las Vegas-based team and satellite offices into the Aperture platform to expand its litigation-focused forensic engineering capabilities and national footprint.

IMEG Corp, a U.S.-based engineering consulting firm, has acquired MSA Engineering Consultants, a Las Vegas-headquartered MEP and low-voltage engineering firm. The acquisition strengthens IMEG's presence in Nevada (particularly Las Vegas) and expands its building systems and MEP capabilities; financial terms were not disclosed.

IMEG Corp acquired Las Vegas-based Mendenhall Smith Structural Engineers; the transaction closed on March 1, 2021 and terms were not disclosed. Blackcastle Partners acted as the exclusive sell-side advisor for Mendenhall Smith.

Orlando-headquartered Universal Engineering Sciences, LLC (UES), backed through its relationship with Palm Beach Capital and Gary H. Elzweig, P.E., has announced that NOVA Geotechnical & Inspection Services, LLC has joined the UES family. The deal expands UES's footprint westward — adding NOVA's Las Vegas, Reno and Irvine capabilities to UES's national platform and strengthening its geotechnical, materials testing and inspection service offering.
