Acquisitions in Valais, Switzerland

ARCHIMED, a healthcare-focused private equity firm, has acquired a majority stake in Switzerland-based ExcellGene SA and its sister company Magellan Biologics & Consulting (Portugal), partnering with founders Florian and Maria Wurm and management. The investment creates a group focused on cell line development, gene transfer and cell culture-based manufacturing to accelerate work on biosimilars, recombinant proteins and transfection/media products.

Vail Resorts, Inc. agreed to acquire Crans-Montana Mountain Resort in Valais, Switzerland from CPI Property Group, taking an 84% stake in Remontées Mécaniques Crans Montana Aminona (CMA) SA, an 80% stake in SportLife AG, and full ownership of 11 restaurants. The acquisition expands Vail's European resort network and will include Crans-Montana on select Epic Pass products; Vail expects to invest in capital projects and grow EBITDA through network synergies and Epic Pass inclusion.

Henry Schein, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Condor Dental Research Company SA, a Swiss dental distributor based in Vouvry. Henry Schein purchased 100% of Condor Dental from MCCB II Holding (owned by Christèle Herreman) to expand its Swiss and European dental distribution business; Condor Dental reported approximately $18 million in 2021 sales and will join Henry Schein’s International Distribution Group.

Safeguard Global acquired Europe-based WorkFor Group (Adm In Staff, SA), including its WorkFor employment outsourcing capability and AdminMe payroll processing business, closing the transaction on April 25, 2019. The deal combines Safeguard Global's global payroll and employment outsourcing services with WorkFor/AdminMe products and in-market European talent to accelerate product, service and technology development and deepen European market expertise.
