Software Acquisitions in 2016

QualiTest Group, a global software testing and quality assurance provider, has acquired UK-based Test Direct Limited and will merge Test Direct into its UK operations to create one of the largest independent pure-play testing practices in the country. The deal expands QualiTest's coverage into the North & Midlands of England and strengthens its capabilities and sector reach in retail and financial services.

Casamba LLC announced a merger with HealthWyse (Boston, MA) and TherapySource (Birmingham, AL) to combine post-acute EMR, therapy-management and revenue-cycle capabilities into a single, integrated platform. The transaction brings HealthWyse's home health/hospice EMR and TherapySource's clinical and billing solutions together with Casamba's therapy-management business to enable better care coordination, support bundled-payment and value-based purchasing, and expand the company's post-acute market coverage.

GE Digital acquired Meridium, Inc., a global provider of asset performance management (APM) software and services, in a deal that completed in September 2016. The acquisition (inclusive of GE’s prior 26% stake) was executed at an enterprise value of $495 million to integrate Meridium’s APM capabilities into GE’s Predix platform and accelerate GE Digital’s industrial analytics and reliability offerings.

The Carlyle Group has signed a binding agreement to acquire NetMotion Wireless, a Seattle-based provider of mobile performance management software, from Clearlake Capital Group. NetMotion — which employs about 114 people and serves more than 3,500 organizations across utilities, healthcare, telecommunications, government and other sectors — will be scaled internationally with equity provided by two Carlyle funds.

Guidewire Software has agreed to acquire FirstBest Systems to expand its underwriting management capabilities for complex commercial, specialty, and workers' compensation lines. The acquisition will integrate FirstBest's underwriting management technology and team into the Guidewire Insurance Platform to strengthen risk assessment, decisioning, and collaboration for P/C insurers in the U.S. and Canada.

Enghouse Systems Limited (TSX:ESL) acquired the assets of NetBoss Technologies, Inc. for approximately CDN $9.3 million. The acquisition adds NetBoss’s service assurance, network analytics and OSS capabilities to Enghouse’s Networks portfolio and brings NetBoss’s ~40 employees and global customer base into Enghouse.

Conga has completed the acquisitions of Novatus, ActionGrid and CRMCulture to expand its enterprise-grade document, data and contract management capabilities on the Salesforce platform. The deals, completed with capital from Insight Venture Partners, add contract lifecycle management software, a top-rated Salesforce AppExchange grid solution, and professional services to Conga's growing suite of sales-acceleration products.
