Accounting & Tax Acquisitions in South Carolina

Smith + Howard, an Atlanta-based accounting and advisory firm, has acquired Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, P.A. (BPS), a Columbia, South Carolina-based public accounting firm with nearly 100 certified public accountants and professional staff. Terms were not disclosed; the acquisition expands Smith + Howard's presence in the Southeastern United States and strengthens its advisory and industry-specific capabilities across areas such as construction, insurance, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

UHY has expanded its U.S. footprint by adding Greenwood-based Manley Garvin, LLC to its network, bringing the Manley Garvin team and clients into UHY's national platform. Shareholders Josh Garvin and Jim Manley will join UHY as part of the combination; Peakstone served as M&A advisor to Manley Garvin.

BELAY has acquired Accountfully, an outsourced accounting and bookkeeping firm founded in Charleston, South Carolina, to expand BELAY’s outsourced accounting, tax and inventory-accounting capabilities for small and mid-sized businesses. The deal brings Accountfully’s expertise in inventory-based businesses (notably CPG) and income tax services into BELAY’s flexible staffing and financial services portfolio, and creates growth opportunities for Accountfully’s team.

Cherry Bekaert has acquired Tax Advantage Group (TAG), a Greenville, South Carolina-based specialist in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) services. TAG will operate as Tax Advantage Group by Cherry Bekaert, bringing six professionals and deep NMTC expertise to expand Cherry Bekaert’s Credits & Incentives practice and capability to serve community-development and nonprofit-oriented projects nationwide.
