Automotive Acquisitions in Minnesota

Polaris has completed the separation of Indian Motorcycle into a standalone business and sold a majority stake in the brand to Carolwood LP, an independent private equity firm based in Los Angeles. Financial terms were not disclosed; Polaris said the divestiture allows it to sharpen focus on core powersports businesses while Indian Motorcycle will operate independently under new majority ownership.

America's Auto Auction, part of America's Group, has acquired Mid-State Auto Auction in New York Mills, Minnesota, rebranding it as America's Auto Auction Minnesota. The acquisition expands America's Auto Auction's footprint into Minnesota as part of a broader national growth strategy and keeps the existing Mid-State management team in place to preserve local service continuity.

Victory Tire & Auto, a Straightaway Tire & Auto brand, acquired Pod's Complete Car Care in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, with the transaction closing on July 9, 2025. The acquisition adds Victory's 19th regional location, preserves the existing seven-person team at the eight-bay shop, and expands Straightaway's footprint in the northeast Minneapolis market.

Victory Tire & Auto, a Straightaway Tire & Auto brand, acquired AutoPro Auto Service in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, in a deal finalized June 11, 2025. The acquisition is an add-on to Straightaway’s regional network, increasing Victory’s location density in the Brooklyn Park market and preserving the AutoPro team under the Straightaway/Victory platform.

Victory Tire & Auto, a Straightaway Tire & Auto brand, acquired Reliable Auto Care in Buffalo, Minnesota, expanding the platform's presence into the northwest suburbs of the greater Minneapolis area. The deal, completed April 30, 2025, transfers ownership from Jeff and Kris Jackson and brings a seven-bay shop into Straightaway's network to support future growth through operational resources and training.

Corwin Automotive Group (ranked #47 on the 2025 Automotive News Top 150) has acquired Muscatell Subaru from owner Ward Muscatell. The dealership will be renamed Corwin Subaru, remain at its Moorhead location, and the transaction was advised by Performance Brokerage Services on the sell-side.

Victory Tire & Auto, a Straightaway Tire & Auto brand, acquired Burnsville Auto Repair on Feb. 27, 2025, expanding its Minneapolis–St. Paul footprint. The single-location shop (eight service bays, >6,000 sq ft) will retain staff while benefiting from Victory/Straightaway operational support, training, and marketing to drive local growth.

Quality Collision Group (QCG) has acquired LaMettry's Collision, a family-owned multi-shop operator in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, adding 14 locations and bringing QCG's national footprint to 85 OEM-certified facilities. The deal integrates LaMettry's OEM-focused capabilities — including Tesla authorization and numerous luxury-brand certifications — into QCG's MSO platform; financial terms were not disclosed.

D&S Car Wash Supply, a portfolio company of Lometa Capital Partners, has acquired WashCard Systems, a Centerville, Minnesota-based provider of payment hardware and loyalty software for in-bay car washes. The acquisition adds WashCard’s tap-to-pay, QR and mobile app capabilities to D&S’s product lineup to expand technology offerings for car wash operators across the United States and Canada.

Lithia & Driveway (LAD) has purchased Carousel Motor Group, a nine-store dealer group operating premium luxury and domestic franchises in the Minneapolis–St. Paul region, adding an expected $900 million in annualized revenue. The acquisition expands Lithia's footprint in the North Central Region (including its first Ford store in Wisconsin) and was financed using existing on‑balance sheet capacity; the seller is Pohlad Companies (the Pohlad family).

Straightaway Tire & Auto, a PE-backed aftermarket automotive repair platform, has completed acquisitions of Maple Grove Auto Service (Maple Grove, MN) and Warzecha Auto Works (Zimmerman, MN). Mister Car Wash, Inc. (NYSE: MCW) acquired Top Wash, adding three express exterior locations in Anoka, Fridley and Champlin, Minnesota. The acquisition expands Mister Car Wash's presence in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities and the Top Wash sites will be rebranded and integrated into Mister's operations over the coming months.

Classic Collision, a national multi-site auto body repair operator based in Atlanta, has acquired Crystal Lake Automotive, adding locations in Burnsville and Lakeville, Minnesota to its network. The deal brings Crystal Lake's teams into Classic Collision's family as the buyer expands its presence in Minnesota through an add-on acquisition of two collision repair centers.

Caliber Collision Centers and Abra Auto Body Repair of America closed a merger to combine their operations under the Caliber brand, creating a national collision-repair platform serving customers and insurance clients across 37 states and the District of Columbia. Private equity firm Hellman & Friedman will be the majority shareholder of the combined company, while OMERS and Leonard Green & Partners remain minority investors; terms were not disclosed.
