Building Products Acquisitions in South Carolina

US Masonry and Building Products (USMBP), a portfolio company of Kinderhook Industries, has acquired Davis Supply of Charleston, a regional distributor of masonry and concrete materials headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina. The add-on expands USMBP's distribution footprint and capabilities in the Southeastern United States; financing for the transaction was arranged by TPG Twin Brook and Kayne Anderson Private Credit.

Officine Maccaferri, with support from majority shareholder Ambienta, has acquired Synteen Technical Fabrics Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of geosynthetics headquartered in Lancaster, South Carolina. The acquisition strengthens Maccaferri’s geosynthetics footprint and distribution capabilities in North America, supporting infrastructure and highway/rail projects.

Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. (TSX:DBM) acquired the assets of CM Tucker Lumber Companies, LLC ("Tucker Lumber") for a base purchase price of approximately US$255 million in cash. The asset purchase, completed October 1, 2024, adds Tucker's three facilities (headquartered in Pageland, South Carolina) and ~425 employees, expanding Doman's treated-wood capacity and Eastern U.S. footprint and is expected to be immediately accretive.

Atlanta-based Liteworks Window & Door, a portfolio company of The Macallan Group, has acquired Southern Components, Inc., a distributor of windows and doors serving Charleston, St. Simons and Northeast Florida. The deal expands Liteworks' geographic footprint and broadens its product portfolio to accelerate growth in residential and commercial construction markets.

White Cap, a leading distributor of specialty construction supplies, has acquired WWJ Rebar, a rebar fabrication and reinforcing-steel provider based in Aiken, South Carolina. The acquisition expands White Cap’s rebar fabrication capabilities and footprint in the Southeast, providing WWJ Rebar’s customers access to White Cap’s broader products and services; WWJ Rebar’s owner and CEO Bill Jones commented on career and customer benefits from the transaction.

ProSource, a Greenville, South Carolina-based wholesale distributor backed by Blue Sea Capital, has acquired Southern Distributing Co. of Lake City, a family-owned plumbing and electrical supplies distributor founded in 1972. The acquisition will rebrand Southern Distributing as ProSource and expand ProSource's product offerings and geographic reach across the Southeast.

SEI Group LLC, a Quad‑C Management‑backed installer of insulation and specialty building products, acquired the assets of Carolina Gutter Company of SC, LLC, a Charleston-based installer of gutters, garage doors and after-paint products. The acquisition expands SEI’s local presence in the Charleston market as part of its ongoing rollup strategy under Quad‑C ownership; terms were not disclosed.

Kingswood Capital Management, LP has acquired Progress Lighting, LLC from Hubbell Incorporated. Kingswood is partnering with Progress Lighting's existing management team — with Sean Veit continuing as CEO — to transition the business to a standalone company and invest in growth across residential new construction and renovation & remodel end markets. Progress Lighting is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina and supplies residential and light commercial decorative lighting through a broad distribution network in the United States and Canada.

Watsco, Inc. completed the acquisition of Gateway Supply Company, a Columbia, South Carolina-based distributor of plumbing and HVAC products with approximately $180 million in annual sales and 16 locations across South Carolina and North Carolina. The transaction expands Watsco's footprint in core Sunbelt markets and brings Gateway into Watsco's technology and scale while Gateway's leadership (the Williams family) will continue to run the business.

Artisan Design Group (a portfolio company of The Sterling Group) has acquired KB Kitchen & Bath, a South Carolina-based cabinet installer and distributor. The add-on strengthens ADG's cabinet offering and expands its coverage of the single-family housing market in the Carolinas. Terms were not disclosed.

Heidelberg Materials (North America) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire The SEFA Group, Inc., the largest recycler of harvested fly ash sold for use in concrete products in the United States. Based in Lexington, South Carolina, The SEFA Group operates 20 locations with five business units and more than 500 employees, and the acquisition strengthens Heidelberg's cementitious footprint and sustainable product offerings in the Southeastern U.S.

ProSource, LLC, a Blue Sea Capital portfolio company and value-added wholesale distributor of plumbing and building products, has acquired Huber Supply, a two-location plumbing and electrical supplier serving the South Carolina Lowcountry. The acquisition will rebrand Huber Supply to ProSource Supply and expand ProSource's product availability and geographic footprint in South Carolina.

Colony Hardware, a direct-to-jobsite distributor backed by Audax Private Equity, has acquired New South Construction Supply, a Greenville, South Carolina-based value-added distributor of rebar, concrete, masonry, waterproofing products, and contractor supplies. The deal expands Colony's footprint in the Southeast and represents another add-on to support Colony's buy-and-build growth strategy under Audax.

Blue Sea Capital has acquired ProSource Supply from CID Capital; terms were not disclosed. ProSource, a Greenville, South Carolina-based distributor of plumbing supplies, luxury fixtures, lighting and cabinet hardware with seven showrooms and over 140 employees, will partner with Blue Sea to accelerate organic growth, expand geographically across the Southeast and pursue complementary add-on acquisitions.

Breck Partners, together with Essential Cabinetry Group management, has acquired Essential Cabinetry Group, a Simpsonville, South Carolina-based manufacturer of custom, semi-custom and stock-plus kitchen and bath cabinetry. The transaction was a sale by Gridiron Capital and brings ECG — which sells through a dealer network of more than 650 dealers and operates the Tedd Wood, Executive Cabinetry and Designers Choice brands — under Breck's ownership to support strategic and operational transformation.

Indianapolis-based private equity firm CID Capital’s portfolio company, ProSource, LLC, has acquired Marion Davis, Inc., a two-location plumbing, lighting and electrical supplier in Upstate South Carolina. The add-on expands ProSource’s plumbing and lighting capabilities and brings electrical supplies into its product assortment; Marion Davis will be rebranded to ProSource after a transition period.

Eastern Wholesale Fence, a fencing platform backed by Center Rock Capital Partners, has acquired Hudson Fence Supply, a Fort Mill, South Carolina-based manufacturer and wholesale distributor of fencing products. The add-on expands Eastern's manufacturing and distribution capacity in the Southeast and strengthens its product offering to contractors, fabricators, distributors, retailers, landscapers, and municipalities across North America.

Atkore International Group Inc. acquired the assets of Queen City Plastics, Inc., a Fort Mill, South Carolina-based manufacturer of PVC conduit, elbows and fittings for the electrical market. The acquisition expands Atkore's product portfolio and strengthens its ability to serve customers in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic U.S.; terms were not disclosed.

Artisan Design Group (ADG), a portfolio company of The Sterling Group, has acquired Builders Wholesale Flooring, a leading provider of flooring products and installation services in the Carolinas. The transaction is an add-on to ADG’s platform as it continues expanding its regional footprint and service capabilities across homebuilder markets.
