Cloud & SaaS Acquisitions in Alabama

Kologik, a Baton Rouge-based provider of cloud software for public safety, has acquired the assets of ALEN, an Alabama-based provider of cloud solutions for federal, state and local law enforcement. The acquisition is intended to expand Kologik's technology capabilities and open new markets across multiple southeastern states while ensuring a smooth transition for ALEN customers.

Genstar Capital has joined existing investor GI Partners to recapitalize Daxko, the Birmingham-based provider of membership management software and integrated payments for the health and wellness industry. The investment will support accelerated product innovation, customer support, sales and marketing, and Daxko’s ongoing acquisition strategy.

Permira made a strategic investment in CommentSold, a Huntsville-based live and social commerce SaaS platform, with previous investor ZMC exiting its position. The funding will be used to accelerate product and geographic expansion as CommentSold scales its live-selling platform for thousands of SMB retailers.

Thoma Bravo has completed the acquisition of Command Alkon, the supplier collaboration and CONNEX platform provider for the heavy construction supply chain, from Quilvest Capital Partners. The private equity firm plans to accelerate product development and expand Command Alkon’s vertical-cloud capabilities to drive further digitization and supply-chain integration across heavy construction.

Affiliates of private equity firm ZMC have made a strategic investment in CommentSold, a Huntsville-based provider of social commerce SaaS and managed services. The minority growth investment will support CommentSold's product, technology and service expansion while founder Brandon Kruse remains CEO; terms were not disclosed.

Teamworks has acquired INFLCR for an undisclosed amount; INFLCR will operate as a fully owned subsidiary with Founder & President Jim Cavale remaining in his role. Teamworks said it will invest in INFLCR to accelerate growth — expanding the platform’s collegiate and pro reach — while both brands continue to operate separately. Teamworks is based in Durham, North Carolina and has more than 100 employees; INFLCR is Birmingham, Alabama–based with about 20 employees.

Denver-based Healthgrades acquired Birmingham, Alabama-based Influence Health to expand its CRM and digital marketing offerings for healthcare customers. The deal (announced Jan. 8, 2019) adds Influence’s technology and customers—bringing the combined company to roughly 1,500 customers—and increases Healthgrades’ workforce while keeping the combined headquarters in Denver.
