Vesuvius plc Acquires Universal Refractories, Inc.

Vesuvius plc has acquired Universal Refractories, Inc., a specialty refractory manufacturer based in Wampum, Pennsylvania, in a transaction valued at $57.1 million on a cash- and debt-free basis. The deal, funded from Vesuvius' internal resources, expands Vesuvius' North American presence among electric arc furnace steel producers and strengthens its Foundry business.

UFP Industries Acquires Quest Design & Fabrication and Quest Architectural Millwork

An affiliate of Universal Forest Products, Inc. (d/b/a UFP Industries) acquired the operating assets of Quest Design & Fabrication, LLC and Quest Architectural Millwork, LLC (collectively "Quest"). Based near Houston, Texas, Quest designs, fabricates and installs premium architectural millwork and case goods for commercial end markets and reported approximately $22 million in sales in 2019; Quest's president and CEO Jon Deutser will remain in place. GulfStar Group served as Quest's exclusive financial advisor on the March 2020 transaction.

Concurrent Utility Services Acquires Atlantic Utility Constructors, Inc.

Concurrent Utility Services, a Sanford, Florida-based provider of power and telecom construction and maintenance services, has acquired Atlantic Utility Constructors, Inc., a Melbourne, Florida utility contractor. The deal expands Concurrent's geographic footprint into central and northeast Florida and broadens its underground construction and telecom/fiber installation capabilities.

LafargeHolcim (U.S.) Acquires Utelite Corporation

LafargeHolcim in the United States has acquired Utelite Corporation, a Coalville, Utah-based producer of expanded shale lightweight aggregates. The purchase strengthens LafargeHolcim's aggregates presence in the Mountain Region; Utelite was founded in 1962, has more than 40 employees, and holds over 60 years of proven and probable reserves.

Ferguson Enterprises Acquires Independent Pipe & Supply and National Fire (Equipment & Fabrication)

Ferguson Enterprises has closed two bolt-on acquisitions: Independent Pipe & Supply Corp., a PVF and commercial plumbing distributor based in Canton, Massachusetts, and National Fire Equipment Ltd. and National Fire Fabrication Ltd., a Toronto-based fire protection products and fabrication business. The deals expand Ferguson's commercial plumbing and mechanical footprint in New England and strengthen its Fire & Fabrication capabilities and presence in Canada.

AFC Industries Acquires QFC Industries

AFC Industries has acquired QFC Industries, a fastener distributor headquartered in Arlington, Texas. The add-on deal (terms undisclosed) expands AFC’s geographic presence in the South and West, deepens its distribution and VMI capabilities, and brings QFC’s team and two distribution centers into AFC’s platform backed by Bertram Capital.
