Spruce Finance Acquires Clearway Energy's Residential Solar Portfolio (53 MW)

Spruce Finance acquired Clearway Energy's entire portfolio of residential rooftop solar assets, adding 53 MW and expanding Spruce's portfolio by roughly 20% to more than 250 MW. The deal supports Spruce's growth-by-acquisition strategy for distributed generation residential solar in the U.S.; Energy Service Experts (Spruce's subsidiary) will provide transitional asset management services in partnership with NRG.

XL Fleet Acquires Spruce Power from HPS Funds

XL Fleet Corp. completed the acquisition of Spruce Power from funds managed by HPS Investment Partners for approximately $58 million in cash and the assumption of roughly $542 million of debt. Spruce Power, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a leading owner-operator of residential rooftop solar systems with more than 52,000 subscribers and ~110 employees; the deal is central to XL Fleet's strategy to become a provider of subscription-based rooftop solar, battery storage and EV charging solutions.

Aspen Power Acquires 20-Project Community Solar Portfolio in Illinois

Aspen Power announced it will acquire a portfolio of 20 community solar projects (up to 19 MW), primarily located in Illinois, partnering with a developer and working with Common Energy to subscribe and manage the projects. The acquisition expands Aspen Power's distributed generation footprint and increases access to community solar for residential and low- and moderate-income customers in Illinois.

CleanCapital Acquires 22.7 MW, 40-Asset Solar Portfolio From Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure

CleanCapital acquired a portfolio of 40 solar assets totaling 22.7 MW from Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure (KSI), expanding its operating distributed solar footprint across Vermont, New York and California. Manulife Investment Management and its institutional co-investors committed an additional $145 million of equity to CleanCapital to fund development, construction and future acquisitions; the sale closes out KSI’s first fund dedicated to community solar.

Altus Power Acquires 4-MW Operating Solar Portfolio from Beltline Energy in Georgia

Altus Power America, Inc. acquired a 4-megawatt operating solar portfolio in Georgia consisting of four single-axis tracker projects and one fixed-tilt project from Beltline Energy, LLC. The projects sell power to Georgia Power and generate roughly 6.5 million kWh annually; the acquisition expands Altus Power's C&I-scale distributed generation portfolio and strengthens its presence in the Southeast.

Sunnova Acquires SunStreet, Lennar's Residential Solar Platform

Sunnova Energy International Inc. completed its acquisition of SunStreet Energy Group, Lennar Corporation’s residential solar platform and has been named Lennar’s exclusive solar and storage service provider for new-home communities across the United States. As part of the deal, Lennar committed to provide tax-equity investments to support Sunnova’s homebuilder customer pipeline, enabling Sunnova to scale installations and offer battery storage and other energy services to SunStreet customers.
