FreshEdge, a family of produce and specialty food distributors backed by Rotunda Capital Partners, has acquired Valley Produce, a fresh-produce distributor operating near Knoxville, Tennessee. The deal (closed June 30, 2021; terms undisclosed) is an add-on to the FreshEdge platform to expand its presence in eastern Tennessee and the broader southeastern U.S.; Valley will continue operating from its current facility with Mark Stansberry remaining as president.

Wind Point Partners Acquires FreshEdge

Chicago-based private equity firm Wind Point Partners has acquired FreshEdge, a leading independent fresh food distributor, from Rotunda Capital Partners. FreshEdge’s existing management team will remain in place and Wind Point will provide capital to expand fresh-cut processing capabilities, warehouse space, infrastructure and pursue strategic acquisitions to grow density across the Midwest and Southeast.

FreshEdge, the Rotunda Capital Partners-backed fresh food distribution platform, acquired City Produce, a fresh food distributor headquartered in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The add-on transaction (closed May 10, 2022; terms undisclosed) expands FreshEdge's footprint into the southern U.S., adding two facilities (Fort Walton Beach, FL and Foley, AL) and strengthening service to customers across North Central Florida, the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama.

FreshEdge Acquires Monteverde's

FreshEdge, a produce and specialty food platform backed by Rotunda Capital Partners, acquired Monteverde's, a fresh produce distributor located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Monteverde's operates from a 61,500 sq ft facility and will remain locally managed under the Monteverde family while expanding FreshEdge's footprint in western Pennsylvania and the eastern U.S.; terms were not disclosed.

The add-on expands FreshEdge's geographic footprint westward (complementing its KT Produce acquisition) and adds capacity to better serve restaurants, hotels, school systems and other foodservice customers across Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.
