FreshEdge, the Rotunda Capital Partners-backed fresh food distribution platform, has acquired Leonardo's Produce, a Detroit-based distributor of fresh produce and specialty products. The add-on deal (closed December 31, 2020) expands FreshEdge's presence and service offerings in Michigan and northern Ohio and strengthens its value-added fresh-cut and specialty capabilities.

FreshEdge, a family of produce and specialty food distributors backed by Rotunda Capital Partners, has acquired Valley Produce, a fresh-produce distributor operating near Knoxville, Tennessee. The deal (closed June 30, 2021; terms undisclosed) is an add-on to the FreshEdge platform to expand its presence in eastern Tennessee and the broader southeastern U.S.; Valley will continue operating from its current facility with Mark Stansberry remaining as president.

FreshEdge Acquires Frontier Produce

FreshEdge, a Wind Point Partners-backed super-regional fresh food distributor, acquired Frontier Produce, a three-facility fresh produce distributor based in Oklahoma. The add-on expands FreshEdge's geographic footprint westward (complementing its KT Produce acquisition) and adds capacity to better serve restaurants, hotels, school systems and other foodservice customers across Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.

Wind Point Partners Acquires FreshEdge

FreshEdge’s existing management team will remain in place and Wind Point will provide capital to expand fresh-cut processing capabilities, warehouse space, infrastructure and pursue strategic acquisitions to grow density across the Midwest and Southeast.

The deal, which closed on November 18, 2020 (terms not disclosed), expands FreshEdge's presence in Tennessee, the Southeast and the Midwest; McCartney will continue to operate from its Paris facility with Raymon Randolph remaining as president.
