The add-on deal (closed December 31, 2020) expands FreshEdge's presence and service offerings in Michigan and northern Ohio and strengthens its value-added fresh-cut and specialty capabilities.

The add-on transaction (closed May 10, 2022; terms undisclosed) expands FreshEdge's footprint into the southern U.S., adding two facilities (Fort Walton Beach, FL and Foley, AL) and strengthening service to customers across North Central Florida, the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama.

The add-on expands FreshEdge's footprint in western Michigan, adds a 67,147 sq. ft. facility and additional logistics capacity to support the platform's growing customer base.

FreshEdge, the family of produce and specialty food distribution companies backed by Rotunda Capital Partners, has acquired McCartney Produce, a Paris, Tennessee-based distributor of fresh produce and specialty food products. The deal, which closed on November 18, 2020 (terms not disclosed), expands FreshEdge's presence in Tennessee, the Southeast and the Midwest; McCartney will continue to operate from its Paris facility with Raymon Randolph remaining as president.

FreshEdge Acquires Frontier Produce

The add-on expands FreshEdge's geographic footprint westward (complementing its KT Produce acquisition) and adds capacity to better serve restaurants, hotels, school systems and other foodservice customers across Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.

Chicago-based private equity firm Wind Point Partners has acquired FreshEdge, a leading independent fresh food distributor, from Rotunda Capital Partners. FreshEdge’s existing management team will remain in place and Wind Point will provide capital to expand fresh-cut processing capabilities, warehouse space, infrastructure and pursue strategic acquisitions to grow density across the Midwest and Southeast.
