Penske Truck Leasing Acquires Star Truck Rentals, Inc.

Penske Truck Leasing agreed to acquire Star Truck Rentals, Inc., a Michigan-based transportation services company that offers full-service leasing, commercial truck rental, contract maintenance and used truck sales. The acquisition adds Star’s ~1,900 vehicles and 18 locations across Michigan and Indiana to Penske’s network; financial terms were not disclosed and the transaction was expected to close in Q2 2023 subject to customary approvals.

Toromont Industries Acquires Tri-City Equipment Rentals

Toronto-based Toromont Industries Ltd. has acquired Tri-City Equipment Rentals, a Guelph, Ontario heavy equipment rental operator with locations across Southwestern Ontario. The acquisition expands Toromont Cat's heavy rental footprint and creates a rental hub in southwestern Ontario; Tri-City's president, Jeff Armishaw, will join Toromont as a strategic advisor.

Penske Automotive Group Acquires Transolutions Truck Centres

Penske Automotive Group, through its Premier Truck Group subsidiary, acquired Transolutions Truck Centres (TSTC), a five-location medium- and heavy-duty truck and bus dealership network based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The deal expands Premier Truck Group's presence into Manitoba, adds approximately $180 million of expected annualized revenue and about 200 employees (including 59 technicians and 73 service bays).

Canada Cartage Acquires The GTI Group to Enter U.S. Market

Canada Cartage Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire The GTI Group, a Montreal-based logistics provider offering brokerage, freight management, forwarding, drayage, intermodal, warehousing and specialized heavy/oversize trucking. The deal expands Canada Cartage’s service capabilities and marks its first entry into the U.S. market, with GTI’s U.S. offices in Houston, Des Moines and Franklin, Tennessee; the combined company is expected to generate over C$1 billion in annual revenue.

Ryder System, Inc. Acquires Truck Service Depot

Ryder System, Inc. has acquired Truck Service Depot, an Atlanta-based mobile maintenance provider for commercial trucks and trailers, expanding its Torque by Ryder retail mobile maintenance footprint in Georgia and the broader Southeast. The deal, which closed January 5, 2026, adds more than 20 technicians and two physical sites (Atlanta and Savannah) to Ryder's network; founder Scott Marshall will support the transition and financial terms were not disclosed.

Discount Tire Acquires Dunn Tire Retail and Service Operations

Discount Tire (The Reinalt-Thomas Corporation) acquired the retail tire and automotive maintenance operations of Dunn Tire, closing Sept. 30, 2023. The deal adds 25 Dunn Tire locations across western and central New York and Pennsylvania, expanding Discount Tire's retail footprint and full-service offerings for retail, fleet and B2B customers.
