EQT Infrastructure Acquires EdgeConneX from Providence Equity Partners

EQT Infrastructure (EQT Infrastructure IV) has agreed to acquire EdgeConneX, a global data center provider operating over 40 facilities across 33 markets, from an investor group led by Providence Equity Partners. The transaction is intended to support accelerated growth, new market entry and material expansions of EdgeConneX's existing locations; it was announced Aug. 19, 2020 and expected to close in Q4 2020.

EQT Infrastructure announced plans to combine its portfolio companies IP-Only and GlobalConnect to create a leading Northern European fiber-based datacom and cloud-enabling infrastructure provider. The merger creates scale across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Northern Germany — combining roughly 58,000 km of fiber, ~18,000 sqm of data center capacity, more than 1,500 employees and combined 2018 revenues of ~EUR 520 million to accelerate network rollout, innovation and cross-border services for B2B, B2C and public customers.

Edge Centres Acquires QuadraNet

Australian data centre operator Edge Centres has acquired US colocation and bare-metal provider QuadraNet, adding 10 facilities to its US footprint and increasing Edge’s presence across nine US metro areas. Terms were not disclosed; Edge Centres will merge certain LA assets and appoint its CTO Kiarash Jahangiri as QuadraNet CEO to oversee operations.
