Argand Partners has acquired Midwest Can Company and Container Specialties, Inc., a Franklin Park, Illinois-based manufacturer of portable fuel containers and custom blow-molded plastic containers. Argand plans to partner with management to accelerate new product development and expand geographic penetration; the transaction was supported by a loan facility from Benefit Street Partners and represents a purchase from GenNx360 Capital Partners.

Solenis Acquires CedarChem LLC

Solenis, a Wilmington, Delaware-based specialty chemicals producer owned by Platinum Equity, acquired CedarChem LLC and its operating assets on October 2, 2023. CedarChem, headquartered in Cedartown, Georgia, supplies water and wastewater treatment products to industrial and municipal customers in the southeastern United States; the deal expands Solenis' product and service capabilities and regional go-to-market presence.

Merit Capital Partners and Fulton Capital Acquire AFX, Inc.

Merit Capital Partners and Fulton Capital partnered with AFX management to acquire AFX, Inc., a Waukegan, Illinois-based designer, assembler and distributor of contemporary and decorative lighting fixtures. Merit provided subordinated debt and equity to support the transaction; the deal positions AFX to continue expanding sales and improving operations across its commercial, residential and hospitality end markets.

Project Canary Acquires Aeris Technologies

Project Canary, a Denver-based climate tech and environmental assessment company, has acquired Hayward-based Aeris Technologies, a maker of laser-based gas analyzers and leak detection systems. The acquisition makes Aeris a wholly owned subsidiary of Project Canary and expands Project Canary's measurement capabilities and addressable end markets beyond oil and gas into utilities, landfills, agriculture, and other industrial sectors.

Meritus Gas Partners Acquires OXARC, Inc.

Mérieux Equity Partners and Siparex Acquire Majority Stake in Piercan

Mérieux Equity Partners' MP4 fund has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling majority stake in Piercan, with Groupe Siparex and regional investor Normandie Participations investing alongside. The deal is a primary LBO that will support Piercan — a Normandy-based, global manufacturer of isolator and dry-box gloves for the pharmaceutical and nuclear industries — to improve industrial capabilities, pursue international expansion and diversify into new market segments; the founding Lucas family and other historical shareholders reinvest part of their proceeds.
