Amwins Acquires Superior Underwriters

Amwins, a leading wholesale distributor of specialty insurance products, has acquired Superior Underwriters, a Bellevue, Washington–based managing general agency (MGA). The business, which will join Amwins Access, closed on December 31, 2024; terms were not disclosed and the acquisition is intended to strengthen Amwins' presence in the Pacific Northwest and expand its small-business binding authority capabilities.

Amwins Acquires Applied Risk Capital

ARC will join Amwins Underwriting to expand Amwins' credit insurance and underwriting capabilities for banks, funds and institutional investors; BMO Capital Markets served as exclusive financial advisor to ARC on the sale.

The transaction closed April 1, 2025; Nelligan brings approximately $850 million in-force premium, 400+ broker relationships, 80+ carrier partnerships and 52 employees to Amwins.

Amwins Group Acquires Worldwide Facilities from Genstar Capital

Amwins Group, Inc. has acquired CBIZ M.T. Donahoe & Associates, LLC ("MTDA"), a Maryland-based general agent specializing in employee and individual benefits. MTDA will join Amwins' Group Benefits division (Amwins Connect), with MTDA president Michael Donahoe Jr. joining the Amwins Connect leadership team; terms were not disclosed. The deal strengthens Amwins' Mid-Atlantic presence and provides increased access to carriers and brokers across the region.
