Cisco Acquires BroadSoft for $1.9B

Cisco agreed to acquire BroadSoft, a provider of cloud PBX, unified communications, team collaboration and contact center software, for $1.9 billion (paying $55 per share). The deal strengthens Cisco's software- and cloud-focused collaboration portfolio and brings BroadSoft's large service-provider customer base and cloud voice/contact-center capabilities into Cisco's applications group.

Aurea Acquires BroadVision

Aurea Software, backed by ESW Capital, has acquired BroadVision, a pioneer in complex document creation, management and collaboration tools. The deal was completed as part of a pre-packaged Chapter 11 reorganization: BroadVision shareholders are to receive at least $4.375 per share and ESW Capital will receive the shares of the reorganized company. Aurea plans to integrate BroadVision's capabilities into its Aurea Unlimited enterprise software library to strengthen its collaboration offerings.
