GeoPark Acquires Vaca Muerta Blocks from Pluspetrol

GeoPark Limited completed the acquisition of a 100% operated working interest in the Loma Jarillosa Este and Puesto Silva Oeste blocks in the Vaca Muerta formation from Pluspetrol S.A., with total consideration of $115 million. The Government of Neuquén Province issued decrees formalizing the transfer and GeoPark has transferred a 5% working interest in Puesto Silva Oeste to Gas y Petróleo del Neuquén S.A. (GyP) as a strategic partner; GeoPark will be the operator.

Union Park Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm, has made a majority investment in HydroGeoLogica, Inc., a Golden, Colorado-based mining-focused hydrogeology and geochemistry consulting firm. HydroGeoLogica will form a new Mining Services Group within LRE Water (a Spheros Environmental company), with founders Anita Johnson and Brent Johnson continuing to lead the group.

Laredo Petroleum Acquires Sabalo Energy Assets for $715M

Laredo Petroleum (NYSE: LPI) signed a purchase and sale agreement to acquire the assets of Sabalo Energy, a portfolio company of EnCap Investments, for approximately $715 million in cash and stock. Concurrently, Laredo sold 37.5% of certain operated PDP reserves in its Legacy leasehold to an affiliate of Sixth Street Partners for $405 million to help fund the acquisition and deleverage the balance sheet.

Petro-Victory Energy and BlueOak Investments Acquire Capixaba Energia

Petro-Victory Energy Corp., in partnership with financial backer BlueOak Investments, has completed the acquisition of Capixaba Energia LTDA, a producing onshore oil and gas asset in the Espírito Santo Basin that is currently producing ~400 boe/d. Under the joint venture agreement Petro-Victory will operate the assets and hold an initially nominal equity interest that can increase to 20% and then 50% upon achievement of performance milestones, while BlueOak has funded initial payments and committed additional capital expenditures.
