Automattic Acquires Beeper

Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, has acquired messaging startup Beeper in a deal that closed April 1 for about $125 million. The Beeper team will join Automattic's messaging efforts (including last year’s Texts.com acquisition); Beeper founder Eric Migicovsky will lead messaging at Automattic as Head of Messaging and the product will be integrated and expanded under the Beeper brand.

MessageBird has entered into definitive documentation to acquire US-based SparkPost for $600 million, a deal intended to add industry-leading email sending and deliverability capabilities to MessageBird's omnichannel platform and expand its presence in the United States. The transaction was announced alongside an extension of MessageBird's Series C financing (bringing the round to ~$1B) backed by investors including Eurazeo, Tiger Global, Owl Rock and BlackRock.
