Vertical Cold Storage Acquires MWCold

Vertical Cold Storage, a temperature-controlled warehousing platform sponsored by real estate investment firm Platform Ventures, has agreed to acquire MWCold, a fourth-generation, family-owned cold storage and logistics provider operating two facilities in central Indiana. The acquisition adds more than 545,000 square feet of multi-temperature, rail-served warehouse capacity (Indianapolis and Pendleton, IN) to Vertical Cold's Midwest footprint and will see MWCold CEO Tim Siddiq transition to an advisory role.

Vertical Cold Storage, a Platform Ventures‑sponsored developer and operator of temperature‑controlled distribution centers, has acquired Liberty Cold Storage in Bolingbrook, Illinois from West Liberty Foods. The deal—terms not disclosed—gives Vertical Cold a nearly 300,000 sq. ft. facility with intermodal access and strengthens its plan to build a national cold storage footprint while West Liberty Foods will remain a major customer.

Lineage Logistics Acquires VersaCold Logistics Services from TorQuest Partners

Lineage Logistics has agreed to acquire VersaCold Logistics Services from TorQuest Partners and its co-investors IMCO and OPTrust, expanding Lineage’s temperature-controlled network in Canada. VersaCold operates 24 temperature-controlled facilities and an asset-based transportation network across nine provinces; financial terms were not disclosed and the deal closed in 2022.

TorQuest Partners, together with co-investors The Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) and OPTrust, completed the acquisition of VersaCold Logistics Services from KingSett Capital and Ivanhoé Cambridge. VersaCold's management (led by Mike Arcamone as CEO) rolled equity and will continue to operate the business as the new investors support growth of the company's temperature‑controlled warehousing and food logistics network in Canada.
