Uber Acquires Drizly for Approximately $1.1 Billion

Uber Technologies, Inc. has completed its acquisition of Drizly, the North American on-demand alcohol marketplace, for roughly $1.1 billion in stock and cash. Drizly will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary and its marketplace will be integrated into the Uber Eats app while maintaining a separate Drizly experience.

The spinout — which will focus on scaling the Careem super app (food and grocery delivery, digital payments, and other on-demand services) — was announced by Careem; Uber's exact remaining stake in the spinout is not disclosed and the ride-hailing business was reported as still owned by Uber.

The acquisition will integrate Grubhub’s large marketplace and logistics network into Wonder’s app to accelerate Wonder’s ‘super app for mealtime’ strategy; the deal is expected to close in Q1 2025 and Jefferies served as Wonder’s financial advisor.
