Sherwin‑Williams Acquires Sika's European Industrial Coatings Business

The Sherwin‑Williams Company completed its acquisition of the European industrial coatings business of Sika AG, which will join Sherwin‑Williams' Performance Coatings Group. The business is based in Germany (with sales/technical support in Poland, Austria and Switzerland), contributes approximately CHF 75 million in 2020 sales, and about 115 Sika employees will join Sherwin‑Williams.

Sherwin-Williams Acquires German Wood Coatings Business (Oskar Nolte & Klumpp Coatings)

The Sherwin-Williams Company has agreed to acquire Specialized Industrial Coatings Holding (SIC Holding), a venture comprising German wood-coatings makers Oskar Nolte GmbH and Klumpp Coatings GmbH. The combined business (approximately 220 employees; >€91.5 million sales) will join Sherwin-Williams' Performance Coatings Group, with the transaction expected to close by early 2023 pending regulatory approvals.

Sherwin-Williams Acquires Gross & Perthun GmbH

The Sherwin-Williams Company announced an agreement to acquire Gross & Perthun GmbH, a Mannheim, Germany–based developer, manufacturer and distributor of industrial coatings primarily serving the heavy equipment and transportation industries. Gross & Perthun has about 100 employees and roughly $50 million in annual sales; the business will become part of Sherwin-Williams' Performance Coatings Group and the transaction was expected to close by the end of Q3 2022.

PPG Completes Acquisition of Tikkurila

True Value Company has agreed to acquire the consumer paint business of The Yenkin-Majestic Paint Corporation, including architectural coatings sold under the Majic brand. The deal lets True Value deepen its retail paint portfolio and expand capabilities in agricultural and specialty coatings, while Yenkin-Majestic will focus resources on its polymers business.

American Industrial Partners Acquires PPG's U.S. & Canadian Architectural Coatings Business (Pittsburgh Paints Co.)

American Industrial Partners (AIP) completed the acquisition of PPG's U.S. and Canadian architectural coatings business for $550 million and has renamed the business The Pittsburgh Paints Company. The newly independent company — a top-three producer of interior and exterior paints, stains, caulks, adhesives and sealants with more than 6,000 employees and 750 company-owned stores — will operate as a focused platform serving professional and DIY end markets across the U.S. and Canada.
