Koppers Acquires Brown Wood Preserving for Approximately $100M

Koppers Holdings, through its subsidiary Koppers Utility and Industrial Products Inc., signed an agreement to acquire substantially all assets of Brown Wood Preserving Company, Inc. for about $100 million in cash. Brown Wood, a Louisville, Kentucky-based manufacturer of pressure-treated utility poles with ~100 employees serving the Midwest and Southeast U.S., will be integrated into Koppers' Utility and Industrial Products business to expand capabilities and geographic reach.

OrePac Building Products, a family-owned wholesale supplier based in Wilsonville, Oregon, has agreed to acquire Western Timber Products, a specialty softwood lumber and custom millwork manufacturer headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The deal, announced Feb. 26, 2024, is expected to close around early April 2024 and will keep Western Timber's owner Dan Seid involved to assist in the transition.
