Newport Healthcare, a portfolio company of Onex Corporation, has acquired PrairieCare, a Minnesota-based psychiatric health system. The transaction is an add-on to Newport's behavioral health platform and will expand its residential and outpatient mental health services in the Twin Cities and surrounding markets.

Onex Partners V Makes Majority Investment in Newport Healthcare

Onex Partners V, the private equity investment arm of Onex, has agreed to acquire a majority stake (approximately 60%) in Newport Healthcare, a U.S. provider of evidence-based residential and outpatient treatment programs for teens and young adults with mental-health issues. The investment, completed in July 2021 after announcing the agreement in June 2021, will partner with Newport's management to expand access to the company's behavioral-health services nationwide; terms were not disclosed.
