Ares Management Acquires Dynamic Renewables with Minority Investment from NorthWestern Energy

A fund managed by Ares Management's Infrastructure Opportunities strategy has acquired Dynamic Renewables, a U.S.-based developer, owner and operator of anaerobic digestion and renewable natural gas (RNG) projects. An unregulated affiliate of NorthWestern Energy also took a small minority stake; the investments will support development, construction and expansion of Dynamic's pipeline and operating assets, including the BC Organics facility in Wisconsin.

Kinder Morgan Acquires North American Natural Resources

Kinder Morgan, Inc. has closed the $135 million acquisition of North American Natural Resources, Inc. and its sister companies North American Biofuels, LLC and North American-Central, LLC, acquiring seven landfill gas-to-power facilities in Michigan and Kentucky. Kinder Morgan will evaluate converting up to four sites to renewable natural gas (RNG) with approximately $175 million of capital spend, expanding its RNG generation capacity and diversifying its renewables portfolio.

Sagepoint Energy launched as a newly combined waste-to-energy platform by bringing together Dynamic Renewables, BC Organics and National Organics. The Carmel, Indiana–headquartered company is majority owned by Ares Management Infrastructure Opportunities funds with a minority investment from an unregulated affiliate of NorthWestern Energy, and will develop, own and operate anaerobic digestion/RNG, biorefinery and organics-collection capabilities across the U.S.

CIM Group Acquires MAS CanAm RNG Development Platform (Renamed Terreva Renewables)

CIM Group has acquired 100% of the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) development platform of MAS CanAm, an affiliate of MAS Energy, and will rename the platform Terreva Renewables. The portfolio includes seven projects under construction or development (expected >3.9 million mmbtu per annum) across the U.S. and Canada; CIM plans to scale the platform while the existing development team will continue to lead the business.

BlackRock Real Assets Acquires Vanguard Renewables from Vision Ridge Partners

A fund managed by BlackRock Real Assets has acquired Vanguard Renewables from Vision Ridge Partners. BlackRock will partner with Vanguard Renewables' management to scale the company's organics-to-renewable energy platform, supporting plans to commission more than 100 anaerobic digesters to produce renewable natural gas across the United States.

AIMPERA Capital Partners Completes Majority Investment in Novilla RNG

AIMPERA Fund III, advised by AIMPERA Capital Partners, completed a majority equity investment in Novilla Investment Holdings, LLC (Novilla RNG). The capital will be used to scale Novilla RNG’s development, ownership and operation of dairy-derived renewable natural gas (RNG) production facilities and to execute its U.S. project pipeline.
