GEODIS Acquires Southern Companies to Expand Drayage and Port Services

GEODIS has acquired Southern Companies, a family-owned U.S. drayage provider founded in Miami in 1965 that operates terminals at seven key ports across the Southeast and Gulf. The deal adds more than 80 employees and expands GEODIS' end-to-end supply chain and port operations capabilities in the United States; financial terms were not disclosed.

The transaction includes earnout-based consideration and will see Select transition to the Radiant brand and combine with Radiant's existing South Florida operations, with Gabby Santos named General Manager and co-founder Hector Cavallo departing to pursue other interests.

Forward Air Acquires Edgmon Trucking to Expand West Coast Intermodal Drayage

Forward Air Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Edgmon Trucking, LLC, a Kent, Washington-based intermodal drayage provider that generates about $22 million in annual revenue and employs 21 staff (with ~70 trucks operated mainly by independent contractors). The transaction will be funded from cash on hand, is expected to close in May 2022, and provides Forward Air its first West Coast location for its intermodal business to expand drayage capabilities at the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma.
