Knoxville-based independent agency Tombras has acquired Portland, Oregon creative shop Opinionated for an undisclosed amount. Opinionated’s ~40-person team will operate as Opinionated, a Tombras Company in 2026 and transition to Tombras West in 2027, expanding Tombras’ coast-to-coast footprint and adding creative talent and capabilities to its data-led full-service offering.

King Insurance Acquires Brad Burns Insurance, Inc.

King Insurance, a Gainesville-based full-service insurance brokerage, has acquired Brad Burns Insurance, Inc., a Tallahassee commercial insurance agency focused on commercial property & casualty and employee benefits. The ten-employee firm will continue to operate out of Tallahassee; the acquisition extends King's northern Florida presence and enhances its commercial and employee benefits practice as part of the Company's partnership with BHMS Investments, LP.

BRP Group Acquires Burnham Benefits and Burnham Gibson Wealth Advisors

BRP Group, through its middle-market subsidiary Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners (BKS-Partners), agreed to acquire Burnham Benefits Insurance Services, Inc. and Burnham Gibson Wealth Advisors, Inc., expanding BRP's footprint in Southern California and adding approximately $52.6 million of annualized revenue and ~130 colleagues. The transaction brings wealth management capabilities (BGWA with nearly $2.5 billion AUM) into BRP's middle-market operating group and is expected to close on December 31, 2020, subject to customary closing conditions.

Eastern Insurance Group Acquires Operating Assets of John T. Burns Insurance Agency

Eastern Insurance Group LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern Bank, has acquired the operating assets of the John T. Burns Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent, family‑owned insurance agency based in Newtonville, Massachusetts. The asset acquisition (effective August 1, 2022) expands Eastern Insurance's footprint and client base as part of its ongoing strategy of acquiring independent agencies.

BRP Group Acquires Wood Gutmann & Bogart Insurance Brokers

BRP Group, Inc., through certain indirect subsidiaries including Burnham Benefits Insurance Services, entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Wood Gutmann & Bogart Insurance Brokers (WGB), a Tustin, California-based insurance brokerage with approximately $29.7 million of annual revenue. The deal, announced November 4, 2021 and completed December 1, 2021, expands BRP Group's commercial risk management and employee benefits capabilities and represents another "Partnership" for the public insurance distributor.

The transaction adds over 50 colleagues and deepens BRP Group's capabilities in employee benefits, wealth advisory and retirement consulting while increasing scale in the D.C. Metro region and key end markets such as government contracting, technology and non-profits.
