EW Healthcare Partners has acquired Germfree Laboratories, Inc., a US manufacturer of turnkey, mobile and modular cleanrooms, biocontainment facilities, and related biosafety equipment and services. The investment will support Germfree’s growth into advanced therapy manufacturing (cell and gene therapy) and help scale its manufacturing capacity from its Ormond Beach, Florida facility with nearly 200 employees.

PLZ Aeroscience Acquires 220 Laboratories

PLZ Aeroscience Corporation, a PE-backed specialty aerosol and liquid product manufacturer, has acquired 220 Laboratories, a Riverside, California-based personal care formulator and contract manufacturer. The deal expands PLZ's end-to-end personal care capabilities—adding formulation, ideation and a 200,000 sq. ft. FDA-registered manufacturing facility—and is PLZ's fourth personal care acquisition in recent years.

Plaskolite Acquires Substantially All Assets of Plazit-Polygal

Plaskolite LLC agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets and operations of Plazit-Polygal (excluding its Russian operations), expanding Plaskolite’s manufacturing footprint across North America, Europe, South America and Israel. The deal — backed by Plaskolite owner Pritzker Private Capital — adds multi-wall sheet production capabilities and establishes Plazit-Polygal’s Israel headquarters as Plaskolite’s EMEA hub.

ARCHIMED Invests in PlasmidFactory

Transatlantic healthcare private equity firm ARCHIMED (via its MED Platform II fund) has invested in PlasmidFactory, a Bielefeld, Germany-based contract manufacturer of plasmid and minicircle DNA used in gene and cell therapies. The founder and management will remain in place with a roll-over of a portion of proceeds; proceeds will fund rapid expansion including construction of a larger GMP-compliant production facility to meet growing demand.

Schur Flexibles Group Acquires Termoplast S.r.L.

Schur Flexibles Group has acquired 100% of Termoplast S.r.L., an Italian producer of 100% recyclable MDO-PE films and operator of an on-site recycling business. The acquisition (closed end of June 2021) will accelerate Schur Flexibles' expansion in the Italian market while preserving continuity as the selling family remains in management.
