Humana Acquires Kindred at Home

Humana Inc. has acquired the remaining 60% interest in Kindred at Home from private equity sponsors TPG Capital and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe in an $8.1 billion enterprise-value transaction, making Humana the nation’s largest provider of care in the home. Kindred at Home operates home health, hospice and personal care services across ~40 states (serving ~550,000 patients annually and employing ~43,000 caregivers) and will be integrated into Humana’s Home Solutions/CenterWell home health platform to accelerate value-based, home-based clinical care.

ScionHealth Acquires Cornerstone Healthcare Group

ScionHealth announced a definitive agreement to acquire Cornerstone Healthcare Group, expanding ScionHealth's national network of long-term acute care hospitals, community hospitals, and physician practices. The deal (expected to close in H2 2022 subject to regulatory approvals) excludes Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Clear Lake and Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Houston Medical Center.

Lifepoint Health Acquires Majority Ownership Interest in Springstone

Lifepoint Health has completed the acquisition of a majority ownership interest in the operating company of Springstone, adding 18 behavioral health hospitals and 35 outpatient locations across nine states to its network. Medical Properties Trust will continue to own the majority of Springstone's real estate and retain a minority stake; in conjunction with the deal MPT sold a loan and accrued interest (approximately $205 million) to Lifepoint.

Acadia Healthcare Acquires CenterPointe Behavioral Health System

Acadia Healthcare completed the acquisition of CenterPointe Behavioral Health System, adding four inpatient hospitals (260 acute care beds and 46 specialty substance-use beds) and 10 outpatient locations across Missouri. Acadia funded the transaction with cash on hand and borrowings under its revolving credit facility and said the deal extends its footprint in high-growth Missouri markets (St. Louis, Kansas City and Columbia).

Select Rehabilitation Acquires RehabCare from Kindred Healthcare

Select Rehabilitation has agreed to acquire the RehabCare business line from Kindred Healthcare. The deal (terms undisclosed) creates a pro forma company with approximately 17,000 therapists serving more than 2,300 post-acute and home-health locations across 43 states, expanding Select's scale, leadership team and service capabilities.

Lifepoint Health Acquires Cornerstone Behavioral Health El Dorado

Lifepoint Health has acquired Cornerstone Behavioral Health El Dorado, a 54-bed inpatient behavioral health facility in Tucson, Arizona that employs roughly 100 people. Lifepoint said the facility will be integrated into its Lifepoint Behavioral Health platform and that it plans to invest in growth, adding nearly 50 beds to expand capacity and access to behavioral health services.
