Bramble Foods Group has acquired The Bay Tree Food Co, an award-winning artisan maker of chutneys, relishes, sauces and jams based in Ivybridge, Devon. The Bay Tree's founder Emma Macdonald will remain with the business to support growth, and the deal expands Bramble's branded product range and production capability; Bramble is itself backed by private equity firm LDC.

Azelis Acquires Whitfield Chemical Group (WhitChem) in the UK

Azelis has acquired 100% of the shares of Whitfield Chemical Group Limited, the parent company of WhitChem, strengthening Azelis' industrial chemicals footprint in the UK and EMEA. WhitChem, a UK-based distributor focused on CASE and R&PA, employs about 30 staff and will keep its management in place to support integration and growth.

Whitsons Culinary Group Acquires The Abbey Group

Chocolate Works (Insignia-backed) Acquires Thompson Chocolate

Chocolate Works, a portfolio company of Insignia Capital, has acquired Thompson Chocolate, a Meriden, Connecticut-based manufacturer of specialty and foil-wrapped chocolate novelties. The transaction — facilitated by Insignia Capital Group/Insignia Capital Partners — is Chocolate Works' second add-on (after Moonstruck) and expands the platform's private-label, co-manufacturing and foil-wrapping capabilities for retail and branded customers.

Fenwick Food Group Acquires Wickles Pickles

Fenwick Food Group, a division of Fenwick Brands Inc., has acquired Wickles Pickles and will operate the brand from Birmingham, Alabama alongside Moore’s Marinades & Sauces. The deal (closed Nov. 29) brings the iconic Southern pickle brand onto Fenwick’s food platform to provide additional resources and scale; financial terms were not disclosed.
