Databricks Acquires Lilac to Strengthen Data Quality for Generative AI

Databricks has acquired Boston-based Lilac, an applied research startup that builds tools to explore, cluster and curate unstructured text datasets for generative AI workflows. Lilac's team and technology will be integrated into Databricks' Mosaic AI and data intelligence platform to improve dataset quality, monitoring, and preparation for RAG, fine-tuning and pre-training of LLMs; terms were not disclosed.

Mozaic founder Sharad Kumar will join Qlik as Regional Head of Data Integration and Quality to help integrate Mozaic’s technology into Qlik’s data integration and analytics portfolio and cloud platform integrations.
