MidOcean Partners has acquired Smith System Driver Improvement Institute, Inc., a leading provider of workplace and driver safety training, from Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. Smith System, headquartered in Arlington, Texas, offers driver safety and fleet management training globally and will partner with MidOcean to accelerate product development, organic growth and M&A; the Smith System management team has also invested alongside MidOcean. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The add-on expands Smith System's training capabilities (virtual and in-person classroom, behind-the-wheel, eLearning and risk management) and further consolidates its market position in fleet safety services.

Post Capital Partners partnered with Smith Transportation's existing management team (Steve Smith, Bill Nichols, Jeff Maser and Christine Postlmayr) — with participation from Executive Partner Sam Woodward — to acquire Smith Transportation Services, a Sunrise, Florida-based third-party logistics and brokerage provider. Patriot Capital Group provided a unitranche debt facility and equity co-investment to support the buyout; Post Capital said the investment will fund technology investments, geographic expansion of its Load-to-Ride (LTR) offering and potential tuck-in acquisitions.
