Saab has acquired Deform AB, a Degerfors, Sweden–based metal forming and heavy fabrication company that supplies specialty parts for Saab’s submarine production. The acquisition secures Saab’s supply chain for Kockums submarine manufacturing and provides Deform with long-term ownership stability.

Sandvik Acquires Peterson Tool Company (assets)

Sandvik AB has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Peterson Tool Company, Inc., a Nashville-based custom carbide tooling manufacturer that supplies machine-specific custom insert tooling for high-production turning and grooving. Peterson Tool (73 employees; ~$9m revenue in 2021) will be reported in Sandvik's GWS Tool business unit within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions; the transaction was expected to close in Q2–Q3 2022.

SMS Equipment Acquires Suomen Rakennuskone Oy

Canadian heavy equipment dealer SMS Equipment has acquired Suomen Rakennuskone Oy, a Finland-based exclusive Komatsu dealer, marking SMS Equipment's first entry into the European market. Suomen Rakennuskone, headquartered in Pirkkala, provides sales, maintenance, parts, training and technical support to Finland's construction and mining sectors; financial terms were not disclosed.

Sandvik Acquires Verisurf Software Inc.

Sandvik AB has completed the acquisition of Verisurf Software Inc., a US-based 3D metrology software solutions provider. Verisurf will be reported as a separate business unit within Sandvik’s Machining and Intelligent Manufacturing business area; the company is headquartered in Anaheim, California with 44 employees and reported ~SEK 130 million (USD 12 million) revenue in 2024.

Sandvik Acquires ICAM Technologies Corporation

Sandvik AB has signed an agreement to acquire Canada-based ICAM Technologies Corporation, a provider of post-processing, machine simulation and tool-path optimization software for CNC machining. ICAM (founded in Montreal in 1971) will be reported within Sandvik Coromant; the company has about 27 employees and 2020 revenues of roughly SEK 30 million. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2021 and strengthens Sandvik's verification and optimization offering for component manufacturing.

Valmet Acquires Demuth, Wood-Handling Equipment Provider in Brazil

Valmet Oyj has completed the acquisition of Demuth, a Brazilian provider of wood handling technology and services for the pulp industry. Demuth operates two manufacturing facilities in Rio Grande do Sul, has net sales of around EUR 20–30 million and about 400 employees; the operations will be included in Valmet's reporting from Q3 2024, strengthening Valmet's wood handling offering and local presence in South America.
