1Password has acquired Passage (Passage Identity), a developer-first passwordless authentication startup, to accelerate its move to passkeys and passwordless authentication. The entire Passage team — including co-founders Cole Hecht and Anna Pobletts — will join 1Password as the company integrates Passage's technology into a passwordless platform for enterprises and consumer-facing apps.

The acquisition brings Keyless’ FIDO-certified, PSD2-capable biometric technology and team into Sift to reduce account takeover (ATO) risk for regulated businesses and online merchants globally.
