Fresh Direct Produce Acquires Mike and Mike's Organics

HKW portfolio company Fresh Direct Produce, Ltd. has acquired Mike and Mike's Inc., a Woodbridge, Ontario-based distributor of certified organic fruits and vegetables. The transaction is an add-on to the Fresh Direct Produce platform to expand its Canadian distribution footprint into Ontario; financial terms were not disclosed.

GrubMarket Acquires Best Fresh Produce, Inc.

GrubMarket has completed the acquisition of Best Fresh Produce, Inc., a Los Angeles–based fresh fruit and vegetable supplier founded in 2007. The deal expands GrubMarket's presence in the Los Angeles market and gives Best Fresh Produce access to GrubMarket's WholesaleWare SaaS platform while remaining based in Los Angeles under its existing management team.

Red Arts Capital, a Chicago-based investment firm focused on supply-chain and logistics businesses, has acquired Forestwood Farm, a family-owned produce distributor headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The acquisition adds Forestwood to Red Arts' produce processing and logistics portfolio (joining Freshway Foods) and expands the firm's distribution footprint in the Southeastern United States; Forestwood's second-generation owners will remain in leadership roles.
