SMBC Aviation Capital Acquires Goshawk Management Ltd.

SMBC Aviation Capital completed the acquisition of Dublin-based aircraft lessor Goshawk Management Ltd., creating the second-largest global aircraft lessor by number of aircraft and the largest Japanese-owned lessor. The combined business operates a portfolio of over 700 owned and managed aircraft (with additional new-technology narrowbody orders) and is positioned to benefit from a sector recovery through enhanced scale and funding advantages.

Bain Capital Private Equity completed a majority buyout of Showa Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd., paying approximately ¥90 billion (US$817 million) and delisting the company from the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Bain said it will support redevelopment of Showa Aircraft’s significant real estate assets in Akishima and leverage operational expertise to grow the company’s manufacturing business, which produces honeycomb core panels and other transportation-industry components.

Intelsat Acquires Gogo's Commercial Aviation Business

Intelsat agreed to acquire the commercial aviation business of Gogo for $400 million in cash, combining Intelsat's global satellite network with Gogo's installed base of more than 3,000 commercial aircraft. The deal (approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia) is intended to expand Intelsat's in-flight broadband capabilities and deliver integrated IFEC solutions to airlines and passengers.

The Blackhawk Group Acquires Silver Sky Aviation
