Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Acquires Telesis Technologies

Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd. (HIES), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., has acquired Telesis Technologies, Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of laser and dot-peen marking equipment. The acquisition expands HIES's marking and coding product portfolio and gives Hitachi access to Telesis's AI-enabled vision, laser marking technologies, and global service channels to accelerate growth in coding and marking markets.

Pacific Biosciences Acquires Apton Biosystems

Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) has entered into an agreement to acquire Apton Biosystems, a Pleasanton, California-based developer of high-throughput short-read sequencing instrumentation, to accelerate development of a next-generation, high-throughput short-read sequencer. The all-stock deal provides approximately $85 million upfront (≈6.3M shares) plus up to $25 million in additional consideration contingent on achieving $50 million in revenue, valuing the transaction at up to ~$110 million.

Nephros Acquires Substantially All Assets of GenArraytion, Inc.

Nephros, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEPH) acquired substantially all of the assets of GenArraytion, Inc., a Rockville, Maryland-based developer of infectious disease PCR assays and multiplexing technology. The acquisition gives Nephros access to GenArraytion's MultiFLEX bioassays and other proprietary assays, which will be integrated into Nephros' Pathogen Detection Systems platform, and GenArraytion's CEO Dr. R. Paul Schaudies will partner with Nephros' pathogen detection leadership.

Bruker Corporation Acquires NanoString Technologies Business

Bruker Corporation has acquired substantially all assets of NanoString Technologies, Inc. through a court-supervised Chapter 11 asset sale for approximately $392.6 million in cash plus assumption of certain liabilities. The deal, announced April 2024 and closed in late April/early May 2024, brings NanoString's spatial biology and gene-expression product lines into Bruker to preserve customer access, product development, and jobs while expanding Bruker's life‑science instrumentation capabilities.

Hitachi (via JR Automation) Acquires MA micro automation GmbH

Hitachi Ltd. has completed the acquisition of MA micro automation GmbH, a Germany-based provider of robotic and automation technology, from MAX Management GmbH (a subsidiary of MAX Automation SE). MA micro automation will be operated under JR Automation to expand Hitachi/JR Automation's capabilities and global reach in medical, advanced battery and other high-precision automation markets.
