ReCharge, a Santa Monica-based subscription management platform for e-commerce, raised $277 million in growth capital from Summit Partners, ICONIQ Growth and Bain Capital Ventures. The funding will be used to accelerate hiring, product development and market expansion as ReCharge scales its subscription billing and retention products for thousands of merchants.

Visa Inc. Acquires Currencycloud

Visa Inc. completed the acquisition of Currencycloud, a London-based cloud payments and FX API platform, to strengthen Visa's foreign-exchange and cross-border payments capabilities. Currencycloud will continue to operate from its London headquarters and serve banks, fintechs and businesses globally; the deal builds on an existing strategic partnership between the two companies.

Electronic Merchant Systems Acquires PaymentCloud

The deal brings PaymentCloud's merchant-focused distribution and marketing capabilities into EMS's infrastructure to scale onboarding, processing and inside sales channels while integrating PaymentCloud leadership into EMS management.

Edenred Acquires Reward Gateway

Edenred has agreed to acquire 100% of Reward Gateway from funds managed by Abry Partners and Castik Capital for £1.15bn, valuing the employee engagement SaaS at ~20x EV/EBITDA (2023e). The acquisition expands Edenred’s employee benefits and engagement capabilities and extends Reward Gateway’s footprint in the UK, Australia and the US; Reward Gateway is expected to be consolidated immediately on closing and the deal is financed by debt and cash.

WPP Acquires Cloud Commerce Group

WPP has acquired Cloud Commerce Group (CCG), a UK-based multi-channel ecommerce software provider that helps brands market, sell and fulfil across marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Wayfair. CCG — which employs over 100 people across Europe and powers over £1 billion in annual GMV — will join the Wunderman Thompson Commerce network to strengthen WPP’s commerce and technology capabilities.

Blackhawk Network Acquires National Gift Card (NGC) from Longshore Capital Partners

Blackhawk Network has completed the acquisition of National Gift Card (NGC), a Crystal Lake, Illinois-based provider of technology-enabled prepaid and gift card solutions. The seller was Longshore Capital Partners (in conjunction with LaSalle Capital); the deal expands Blackhawk's prepaid, fulfillment and program-management capabilities and integrates NGC's fulfillment operations and customer base into Blackhawk's global branded-payments platform.
