Hotel Equities and Springboard Hospitality announced a strategic merger effective May 1 to create a scaled, owner-focused hotel management company operating across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Ben Rafter (formerly CEO of Springboard) will serve as CEO of the combined company and Brad Rahinsky (former Hotel Equities CEO) will serve as chairman, with the combined firm leveraging complementary strengths in branded and independent/lifestyle hotel management.

Aramark Acquires Forever Resorts Properties, Rebrands Leisure Division as Aramark Destinations

Sonesta International Hotels Corporation Acquires RLH Corporation

Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced a definitive agreement to acquire RLH Corporation (NYSE: RLH), a franchisor with more than 900 hotels. The deal will expand Sonesta's scale and franchising capabilities, creating a combined company with roughly 1,200 hotels across multiple brands; the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2021 and will be funded with cash-on-hand and/or capital contributions from Sonesta's shareholders.

Marriott International Acquires citizenM

Marriott International has completed its acquisition of the lifestyle hotel brand citizenM, adding citizenM's global portfolio of 37 open hotels (8,789 rooms) and its near-term pipeline to Marriott's select-service offerings. Marriott will integrate citizenM into its systems and loyalty program to accelerate the brand's global expansion and broaden lodging choices for Marriott Bonvoy members.
