NFI Acquires CAI Logistics from CAI International

NFI has acquired CAI Logistics, the non-asset logistics business of CAI International, adding a unit that generates more than $100 million in annual revenue. The deal (announced August 2020) expands NFI's brokerage, intermodal and global freight forwarding capabilities across North America; CAI Logistics' operating entities will be rebranded NFI.

NFI Acquires SDR Distribution Services

The acquisition brings additional fashion and retail customers to NFI and expands its presence in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, reinforcing NFI's position as one of Canada's largest warehousing and distribution businesses.

NFI Acquires Transfix Freight Brokerage Operation

NFI acquired Transfix's freight brokerage operation, adding more than 15,000 carriers to its carrier network and integrating Transfix's brokerage capabilities with its existing logistics platform. Transfix will divest the brokerage business to focus entirely on its software and data solutions (the Transfix Intelligent Freight Platform), with NFI becoming the first third-party customer of Transfix's TMS.

Forward Air Acquires Chickasaw Container Services

Forward Air Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Chickasaw Container Services, a privately held intermodal drayage provider with terminals in Mobile, Alabama and Memphis, Tennessee. The cash-funded transaction is expected to close in November 2022 and will expand Forward's intermodal drayage footprint in the Mobile market while strengthening its presence in Memphis.

TFI International Acquires Siemens Transportation Group and Hot Line Freight Systems

TFI International announced it has agreed to acquire Siemens Transportation Group (STG) and has completed the acquisition of Hot Line Freight Systems to expand its Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) footprint across Canada and the United States. STG, a family-owned Saskatoon-based LTL operator with roughly C$150 million in annual revenue and 15 terminals, will remain managed by Doug Siemens; Hot Line, a Wisconsin-based specialized LTL provider with nearly 200 employees and 14 terminals, will be managed by Paul Burgmeier under TFI's LTL segment.

Trinity Industries Acquires RSI Logistics

Trinity Industries, Inc. acquired RSI Logistics for $70 million, closing on March 8, 2023. The deal adds RSI's rail-focused software, logistics services, terminal operations, and intermodal capabilities to Trinity's rail services platform while retaining RSI employees.
