Long Island Waste Services (Terramont-backed) Completes Combination with National Waste Services

Long Island Waste Services (LIWS), a Terramont Infrastructure Partners-backed platform, completed a business combination with National Waste Services (NWS), combining their commercial waste collection, transfer station and recycling operations across Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. The Leone family will retain an ownership stake and Joe Leone will join the combined company's senior leadership; the deal was supported by co-investor Environmental Services Investors and debt financing from Comerica Bank, Tecum Capital Partners, Patriot Capital, and Colbeck Capital.

Interstate Waste Services, a PE-backed waste-by-rail operator, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling, expanding IWS's collection, transfer and recycling footprint into Southwestern Connecticut and suburban New York. The deal (expected to close by end of Q1 2024) follows an equity recapitalization of IWS led by the Private Equity Group of Ares Management and Littlejohn & Co., and will add Oak Ridge's transfer, MRF and rail-served disposal capabilities and ~27,000 customer locations to IWS's platform.
