Ethos Capital Acquires Newforma

Boston-based private equity firm Ethos Capital has acquired Newforma, a Boston-headquartered provider of project information management (PIM) and BIM collaboration software for the architecture, engineering and construction (AECO) industry. The deal, in which Battery Ventures sold its stake, will support Newforma’s cloud migration and accelerated product development as the company expands its cloud-based collaboration platform.

Ares Management funds have acquired a majority of Form Technologies' common equity as part of a financing package that injected approximately $304 million of new equity to deleverage the company and support strategic growth. The capital—$154 million of common equity from Ares, the D. E. Shaw group and Onex Credit, plus $150 million of preferred equity from the D. E. Shaw group and Ripple Industries—will fund investments in operational capabilities and commercial expansion across Form Technologies' global manufacturing footprint.
