Simplicity Group Acquires Independent Planners Group

Simplicity Group acquired Independent Planners Group (IPG), a Scottsdale-based independent insurance wholesaler, marking IPG as the 30th company to join Simplicity's partnership. As part of the deal, founders Mike Kelley and Brian Kelley join as partners, and IPG will gain access to Simplicity’s sales, marketing and distribution resources to support advisors with life insurance, annuities and long-term care solutions.

MAI Capital Management, a Cleveland-based registered investment adviser owned by Galway Holdings, has acquired Investment Planning Associates (IPA) of Rockville, Maryland. The deal expands MAI’s Mid-Atlantic presence, adds approximately $235 million of assets under management to MAI, and brings IPA’s senior advisors into MAI’s wealth management team.

Simplicity Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Allegis Advisor Group, a Salt Lake City-based independent marketing organization that supports advisors in annuity, long-term care, disability, and life insurance sales. Allegis will join Simplicity as its 43rd partner, with founder Chris Miller and several leaders joining the Simplicity partnership while Allegis' day-to-day operations remain under its existing management team.
